Project Name

Springfield Shopping Centre

Background

Following severe storm events, Springfield Shopping Centre sustained significant roof and façade damage. The client undertook extensive due diligence and has since initiated the first stage of a remediation program. This involves Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) to develop optimal solutions, with the subsequent phase to be delivered under a Design and Construct (D&C) model. Operating within a live retail environment, the project demands careful planning, stakeholder communication, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards to minimise disruption while restoring the centre’s structural integrity and functionality.

In parallel, Springfield Shopping Centre is addressing growing pressure on its undercover carpark. Despite new public parking nearby, non-customer use by commuters, workers, lagoon and stadium visitors, and some retail staff continues to restrict customer access. To improve availability and enhance the shopping experience, the centre is progressing a controlled car parking initiative. This project includes the introduction of a ticketless paid parking system, shading and resurfacing upgrades in open-air areas, discounted retailer parking zones, security improvements, and environmental management, including pest control and bird mitigation measures.
