CAT Distribution Centre, Tullamarine

Project background

Servicing more than 50 client companies, globally, in an array of different market sectors, Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc. (Cat Logistics), a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc has continued to grow in Australia and recently required the development of a new purpose-built Distribution Warehouse, to supplement their existing distribution facility. The development was designed as an extension to the North end of the existing distribution warehouse, which resulted in a total floor area of some 66,300m2 for the expanded facility. Within the new warehouse area are 2 amenities complexes, as well as an expansion and refurbishment to the existing Main Office & Amenities complex that overlaps the co-joined existing and new warehouses.

Scope of services

Project management & superintendent

Gallagher Jeffs worked closely with Geoff Ellis Architects to develop the conceptual design and the preparation of the formal town planning application that would cater for the specific requirements of Cat Logistics. Upon Council approval, Gallagher Jeffs procured the engagement of the preferred design & construct contractor, Pellicano Builders. During delivery we provided both project management and superintendent services to the building works, associated external infrastructure upgrades and alterations works on behalf of Cat Logistics. Gallagher Jeffs also assisted Cat Logistics with their procurement and installation of their new materials handling equipment.
