Intrepid Travel Melbourne

When travelling into foreign lands, those in search of a truly unique and local experience may take many risks. When Intrepid Travel engaged Gallagher Jeffs to manage the search, fitout and relocation of its Melbourne headquarters they sought the assistance of a well experienced guide to ensure their new office adventure was a smooth transition, knowing that sometimes the path well-travelled is best.

Intrepid Travel is a full service travel operator who specialises in unique, small group travel adventures.  Founded by two young Melbourne backpackers in 1989, their company has grown to employ over 1500 staff across the globe.

In 2015 Intrepid Travel approached the Gallagher Jeffs Victorian team to help them identify new Melbourne premises to support their growing team.

Making their way from headquarters at 380 Lonsdale St, Melbourne, Intrepid saw an opportunity to add another stamp to their passport and create a new flexible and functional office amenity that better reflected the company’s culture. ‘Sophisticated grunge’ was the brief and the creation of a truly bespoke 2,600m2 office.

Assisting the Intrepid team with first determining the current and future needs of their work environment, Gallagher Jeffs then engaged PTID, on behalf of Intrepid, to design the new office space while Reliance Constructions built the $2.6M fitout. Gallagher Jeffs also managed the relocation, helping staff with a smooth transition into their new location.

The results speak for themselves in one intrepid team members words "I've never enjoyed a working week as much as the one just gone and that’s coming from someone who has always loved working for Intrepid. I kept having to pinch myself. An amazing new surrounds and so inspiring to be involved, going forward" - Nic

Tom Beadle, General Manager who’s based at Intrepid’s Melbourne Headquarters recently wrote to GJs Neil Besanko and Lauren McKenna; "It's no exaggeration to say that the new workplace has already improved the way the company feels and functions. The positive energy the move has generated is palpable. My heartfelt appreciation for GJs role in making this happen.”
