Caulfield Grammar School - The Learning Project

Brave and Bold – Going into uncharted territory

Caulfield Grammar School - The Learning Project

When Caulfield Grammar approached Gallagher Jeffs in 2012, they were looking to provide additional learning spaces across their Malvern, Wheelers Hill and Caulfield campuses.

With an open mind underpinned by a commitment to providing the most efficient and innovative learning environments for its students, they took on the unchartered territory of constructing three pre-fabricated learning modules.

LEaRN at The University of Melbourne were involved in the early phases of design, allowing Hayball Architecture  to convert the latest learning research into truly innovative learning environments.

Working with Prebuilt, a modular construction company based in Melbourne, Hayball Architects developed the concept designs taking into the consideration each site's unique environments.

The construction of the three modules took place over just 12 weeks with an additional 4 weeks for onsite installation. The controlled environment of the manufacturing style build ensured the construction met rigid timeframes and the highest standards of quality. In addition, no time was lost to unexpected weather events, ensuring the projects timing and budget were met with razor sharp precision.

The result was incredible. In just a short time the school had access to three state of the art learning facilities which catered for a variety of different learning modes. The flexibility of the spaces ensures they are constantly utilised, providing each campus with a learning environment designed for the now.

This was the second major project Gallagher Jeffs managed for the school and as a result of the Learning Projects immense success, GJs is currently working on a further six projects for the school.
